Doctor Sleep, written by Stephen King, is the sequel to his classic book The Shining. I wanted to create an opening title sequence for said sequel. In order to capture a sense of ominous suspense, I decided to venture out to a particularly eerie local cemetery. Capturing a multitude of footage with my iPhone, I focused on composition and texture. I knew that not only was the video footage important, but the music would play a large part too in creating the feel I wanted. I researched a wide range of movie soundtracks and other music before finding a song that embodied the qualities of the story and created a connection to my visual treatment of the imagery. I believe the piece effectively captures the viewers’ attention and holds it through suspense and thrill.
